Silicon Valley Tour de Cure is a road cycling, fundraising event benefiting the American Diabetes Association (ADA). It will be held in Palo Alto on Sunday, June 10, 2012. It offers routes from an easy 15 miles to more challenging routes of 75 miles with a couple of options in between. Riders will be supported with route marshals, SAG vehicles, mechanical support, and rest stops with hydration and snacks. At the finish, there will be food and other activities.
You can find many videos of last year's tour on YouTube: http://goo.gl/iLMGi
All members attending will also need to register with the ADA. Note that there is an entry fee and fundraising minimum (amount TBA). The ADA registration link will be posted here soon.
More information will be posted as it becomes available.

Gear: A road bike is recommended but since this is a tour and not a race, a hybrid or mountain bike will work too (especially if you choose a shorter distance). Helmet is required. Hydration is available at rest stops but carrying some water is recommended. Although support vehicles will be present along the course in case of mechanical problems, carrying a repair kit may get you back on route quicker.
Time: TBA. The above posted time is only a placeholder. Actual start time is depending on the distance you choose. It can be between 6:00 am and 9:30 am. The longer the distance, the earlier the start time. You may also have to arrive earlier to check in and get ready. More information will be posted here.
